BIBIN K. S Assignment 2

Assignment questions for Pastoral Communication course

2. How can I as future priest imitate pastoral social models of communication of God as communicator, trinitarian model, church as communicator (evangeli gaudeium) on parish ministry or chatechisis.

Communication has its origin in God. God's self communication, revelation is exposed in many ways, through creation and other acts. God as a communicator model of communication calls us to seek truth. As priests of the Lord we have the responsibility to guide the faithful to the Lord Jesus, the Ultimate Truth. The Church is called to be the light of the nations. Every Christian has the duty to proclaim the Good News, and as priests, who share in Christ’s ministerial priesthood, carry this responsibility in a special way. The pastoral social communication models provide a valuable framework.

A priest, as communicator and witness, is the key agent of Trinitarian model of communication. He serves as a bridge among people, beginning with listening. The trinitarian model of communication calls for listening along with speaking. Communication must be self-giving and mutually respected. Listening plays a great role in communication. Like Jesus listened to the crowds, priests must listen to parishioners to understand their realities. Holding open meetings before major decisions and making pastoral visits to homes or hospitals fosters trust and genuine participation.

The next step is speaking. Priests are called to share the teachings of the Church in ways that inspire hope and unity. Homilies enriched with stories and parables can touch hearts, not with a dominating voice, but with a tone that guides others.

A third step is the creative use of digital media. The church as a communicator model of communication lights up our path by different approaches of communication and Evangelization. In today’s world, online platforms are essential for timely communication of parish events, feasts, and programs. In parish life, creating an online platform or public channel ensures that parishioners receive timely and accurate information about events, feast days, and programs. Sharing reflections, photos, and announcements strengthens belonging and community life. In the catechetical field also digital tools can greatly enhance learning. Children and youth, already immersed in digital platforms, respond well to multimedia lessons, interactive sessions, and visual aids, and help faith formation be more engaging and effective.
